Sonya Byrd

I am a believer of Jesus Christ, a wife to my partner in life Shane and a mother of three amazing girls. I enjoy teaching Matwork (Christian Yoga), Paddleboarding, coaching cheerleading for Mooresville Youth Association, spending adventurous time with my family and volunteering at my church, The Bridge. My past experiences are being the Youth Ministry Coordinator at The Bridge Church, leading children’s ministries programs and I was the School Age Director at the Lowe’s YMCA. Although I have my Bachelor’s in Business Administration, much of my professional experience has been leading groups of people that mentor, lead, teach and love children. To see a child grasp a skill or task at hand and the assurance that the students of The Bridge Academy will know who created them and loves them, Jesus Christ, is what inspires me.

We have one dog, Brownie, and a cat, Bailey. We are a strong Christian family that believes our Heavenly Father is present in all aspects of our daily lives. We also attend The Bridge Church.

I have been in the education field since 1999. I have been at The Bridge Academy since 2011. I have several years experience and training in Early Childhood Education and Childhood Psychology. Shannon Massi Yuri

Hi! My name is Shannon Massi Yuri. My husband and I have three children. I moved to Mooresville when I was a 7 years old. I knew that God really wanted me to work with children and continued my education and received a Masters in Elementary Education from Gardner-Webb. After receiving my bachelor’s degree, I met my husband and we were married a year later in Argentina, where we lived for five years. Because of this, I am able to speak some Spanish, as well as our children. We have been back in Mooresville since August 2015. I asked Jesus to come into my heart as a little girl during Vacation Bible School at the church I grew up in. We are members of Christ Community Church Mooresville and I am one of the two and three year old teachers on Sunday mornings and my husband is a drummer on the praise team. I have spent many years working with children, whether it was in church nursery, day camps I was a counselor for, being a teacher’s assistant while working on my Masters degree, and by being a mother. I am excited to teach your children and prepare for their futures!

Lacy Burton

Hello! My name is Lacy Burton and I am proud to be the Teacher for the 3’s class this year. This will be my second year of teaching at the Bridge Academy and I am so blessed to be apart of this amazing team. I was born and raised in Statesville, NC and recently married my soulmate. My husband and I live in Concord, NC with our sweet black lab and cat. Together we enjoy traveling, art, music and photography. Before moving, I volunteered as a Sunday school teacher and youth leader at my church. My husband and I love serving in any capacity! We now worship at Elevation Church and love helping others to see what God can do through their lives.

My experience as a teacher has come full circle as I have been working in childcare for 5+ years, continuing my education online and just received my certification for early education. It is a joy to teach and learn alongside children. They bring much happiness to my life and this year is going to be an amazing journey together! Each child is a blessing from God and through Him we will learn how to love others, love learning, and live intentionally.

Something you will hear often in my class is… “God is so good!” and “Jesus loves you and I do too!”

Marge Densley

I am a native Chicagoan, but have lived in Philadelphia and New York before moving here to Mooresville with my husband and two wonderful teenagers. I attend Christ Community Church of Mooresville and have been a christian for 19 years. Raised Catholic, I was called by God in 1998 after having my first baby. I hadn’t gone to church in many years and I was driving by a community bible church with a marquee that said: “Contemporary and Accepting.” That word accepting caught my attention and I went in, took a first steps christian class, committed my life to Christ and have been never been out of church since! I have a BA from the University of Chicago and am a veteran homeschool mom, having taught my children from pre-k through high school. I’ve also taught pre-k through 8th grades in various teaching positions at christian homeschool co-ops in New York and North Carolina. As a private tutor, I am passionate about helping children learn and develop successfully both in character and academics. I am thrilled to join the Bridge Academy Team as we enter the new year, excited to make this the best year yet for teaching, encouraging and loving your children in Christ.
